Friendship festivals
The idea came up in 1967 when the headmasters of three Baltic schools met and started a long tradition of school visits, one each year at a different school. The first Friendship Festival took place at Pilsrundale, at the Rundale Palace where the local secondary school was residing at that time. The first partners in the festival were Pärnu-Jaagupi Secondary School, Pilsrundales Vidusskola from Latvia and Mieskuciai Vidurine Mokykla from Lithuania. As time passed by, the partners from Lithuania changed and at present our third partner is Salociai Vidurine Mokykla. We still meet each year, play basketball, draw a picture together, make music and tell each other about what has happened during the year. These visits are interesting both for students and for teachers because we get to know more about school life in other Baltic states, students can practise foreign languages and make new friends.
